The multi touch interface that equipped the last model of IPod touch moves impeccably and the lack of stylus is a big advantage. You can practically maneuver it with only one hand, an ability which Apple people have taken into account for the applications architecture also. Talking about applications, IPod touch comes within standard endowment with numerous educative programs and games destined to the little ones. This means that the 7-14 years old children have represented an important target for the Apple team.

Besides this, it has the Safari browser, e-mail, calendar, photos, YouTube, Stocks, Google Maps, Google Earth, weather, vocal reminder, notes, New York Times widget, calculator, guitar and drums simulator, which makes us think that Steve Jobs wanted to make iPod touch a device good for all family.

Technical specifications:

  • Size: 11 x 6.18 x 0.8 cm
  • Weight: 115 g
  • Colored, Touch Screen: 3.5 inch with resolution of 480 x 320
  • Operating system: iPhone OS 3.0
  • Processor: 533 MHz, 128 MB DRAM
  • Connection: USB 2.0, Wi-Fi and Blue Tooth
  • Autonomy: 6 hours of video, 36 hours of music (the lithium batteries are rechargeable only from the computer, it doesn’t need iTunes start for this, which is a good thing).

Under the screen there is the only physical button which has a ‘back’ function, which allows the user to go back to the previous medium or main screen. The superior side has a blocking button and the inferior presents the slot for earphones muff of 3.5 mm and for the USB or charger cable. On the left side there is the volume key. The iPod touch has a chassis made of stainless steel which looks very good, but it can scratch easily.

As a major weak point, there is the lack of radio, an application which has become standard for mobile phones with mp3 function and for modern mp3 players in general. Also, for the PC/Windows users, it might be annoying to use iTunes to transfer digital content from the computer. It would have been easier for the PC to see the iPod, once connected through USB, as a stocking medium and the content transfer to be made instantly, without any program mediation. On the other hand, obviously, Mac users will not have any problem with iPod touch and can use it inclusively as an external hard disk.

Just like other Apple devices, iPod touch has tried to lift the lath in what concerns musical players, the wide touch screen making it a veritable portable video player and also a possible game console. It comes in package with an USB cable, earphones, using guide.

All products are upgraded as soon as the developers notice complaints from the public or whatever lacunas. Even if the first series of the item are not great, the following series will come out better and better. The iPod touch has a guaranteed triumph on the market; at least until something more revolutionary is released.
